Cameron Shelton, Kansas City Java Developer
I'm Cameron Shelton, a Java Developer located in the greater Kansas City area. I began programming in the summer of 1997 when my father bought me Que's "QBasic by Example". If memory serves, I didn't see the sun much that summer as I was busy hacking away in QBasic on an ancient 286. By the following year I had upgraded both hardware and software to a 586 and C/C++/Visual Basic. The new languages turned out to be rather handy in helping me land my first programming job as the sole computer nerd in K-State's HFRL (Human Factors Research Lab). While at the HFRL I worked on prototype systems for the FAA, Army and NASA. Eighteen months later I began helping out MITRE on CRCT, a conflict avoidance system for the FAA. After leaving MITRE/FAA, I spent several years aiding in the development and debugging of large systems for various local companies. Until recently I was employed at Clickspeed as Director of IT where I led a team of eight techies. Currently, I am taking some time away from full-time employment, working as an independent consultant for local companies and seeing where life takes me :)
